Type 302 refers to a high-quality duck feather grade known for its bulk fill and springy feel. Typically 95% feather with 5% down or finer feather, it’s sorted for medium size and complies with EN 12935 hygiene standards, making it ideal for cushions that need shape and resilience without sag.
This 85/15 blend combines 85% European 302 duck feather with 15% soft duck down. It offers extra loft and a gentler sink compared to pure feather, while still holding shape well. Sorted to industry standards and EN 12935 compliant, it’s a premium fill ideal for back cushions or scatter cushions.
A 70/30 blend offers 70% European 302 duck feather with 30% soft duck down, giving a noticeably softer, more luxurious feel. It retains some structure from the feather while adding more loft and lightness from the down. Fully EN 12935 compliant, it’s perfect for high-end scatter cushions or indulgent back supports.

Tailored Feather Seat Cushions (Equal Sided Taper) for window seats, benches, and custom built-ins with tapered shapes
Feather cushions with a tapered shape (wider at the front, narrower at the back, angled sides) need accurate measurements to ensure a perfect fit and full, plump finish. This guide shows you how to measure and care for your custom feather-filled tapered seat cushion.
We don’t guess – we go by your cover. For a tapered cushion insert to fit properly, measure the empty cover only and record the following four dimensions:
1️⃣ Front Width – Measure the widest edge of the cover, seam to seam.2️⃣ Back Width – Measure the narrowest back edge, seam to seam.3️⃣ Depth – Measure from front to back through the centre (not along the angle).4️⃣ Border (Thickness) – Measure the depth of the cushion’s side panel or “wall”.
📝 Ignore piping or decorative trims. Just follow the stitched seams.
We build every Feather Seat Cushions (Equal Sided Taper) insert to your exact shape. Internally, we add feather baffles (compartments) aligned from front to back — this keeps the fill evenly distributed and stops it from sliding into the corners. That’s why the depth measurement is crucial — it tells us how to orientate the baffles.
The border depth determines how much feather fill is needed to get that full, structured seat without sagging.
Perfect for:
Bay windows & window seats
Built-in dining benches
Campervan or boat seating
Alcoves or angled joinery
We fill firmer for seats, lighter for backs — all done by hand to match your measurements and comfort needs. Choose from various feather blends to suit your budget.
Feather inserts may not be suitable for allergy sufferers. Prefer a low-allergy option? Our fibre-filled tapered cushions offer excellent loft and bounce without the sniffles.
Fluff Daily – Keeps them full and comfortable
Shake Vigorously – Redistributes the fill
Rotate Often – For even wear
Avoid Moisture – Dry fully if they get wet
Spot Clean Only – Mild detergent, full air-dry
💡 Use protective covers to guard against spills and dirt – it’ll prolong the life of your cushion.
Unsure about angles or taper shape? No problem — send us the actual cover or a drawing, and we’ll sort the rest. We also offer a free fitting service if you post your cover to us
