Our Story

Foam4U’s journey began in 1914 with John Harris, who learned upholstery after serving in WWI. He passed his skills to his son, Leonard, who later founded his own upholstery business. In 2006, Leonard’s son, Mark, took over the family business, shifting its focus toward foam retail by founding Foam4U. Mark embraced the rise of e-commerce, which allowed Foam4U to offer high-quality foam products directly to customers, earning a reputation for innovation and exceptional customer service.

In 2025, Foam4U was acquired by Livedale Foam & Sundries Ltd, a company with a rich history. Founded in 1960 by five former Dunlop employees, Livedale has spent decades building a trusted name in the foam industry. The company’s founders were pioneers in foam development, and their expertise helped establish a strong presence in the upholstery trade. Following years of growth, Livedale relocated to a modern factory in Wigan in 2012, where they invested in state-of-the-art technology, including CNC cutting machines, and expanded their product range.

As time went on, in 2021, Ian and Sue, the second generation of Livedale, passed the reins to their son Matt and his wife Helen. Under their leadership, Livedale has continued to grow, employing over 40 people and maintaining a focus on innovation and outstanding customer service.

Today, Foam4U and Livedale unite their shared values of quality, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction, working together to deliver premium foam solutions to both individuals and businesses alike.
