Posted on 11/06/202511/06/2025 by Mark Harris Fibre back cushions need to be oversized to fill out the cover properly. This guide explains how to take accurate measurements and get the right fit when ordering replacements.🪑 Replacing Fibre Back Cushions? They need more fill than you thinkFibre compresses very easily. If you order a cushion to the exact size of your cover, you’ll end up with something flat, baggy, and uncomfortable. To get a full, supportive cushion that sits right, it needs to be made larger than the cover’s actual size.📏 How to MeasureAdd 5cm to both directionsLay the empty cushion cover flat and measure:Side to side (width) Top to bottom (height)Measure seam to seam internally. Then add 5cm to both measurements when ordering. This gives us enough material to fill out the shape properly and avoids that underfilled, saggy look.Example:If your cover measures 60cm wide x 50cm high, order a 65cm x 55cm fibre cushion.📐 What About the Depth and Shape? We calculate the crown height for youBack cushions don’t usually have a thick border like seat cushions. Most are single-chambered with a flat stitched edge. However, fibre still needs a raised centre – what we call the crown – to give it shape and support. You don’t need to calculate this. Once we know your cover measurements, we work out the correct crown height based on the type of cushion, its purpose, and the fill required. This means your cushion will sit full and upright, not flat or baggy.🧼 Daily Plumping RequiredIt’s part of the dealFibre back cushions will go flat without daily attention. They need to be plumped up regularly to hold their shape and keep their crown. If you want something lower maintenance, we’d recommend looking at foam or feather alternatives.📦 Send Us Your CoversWe’ll fill them for a perfect fitFor the most accurate result, send us your empty covers after placing the order. We’ll build your new back cushions to suit the exact shape, making sure the crown height and fill level are spot on.

Posted on 08/07/202308/07/2023 by Mark Harris Rg50 Firm Without a double the best foam for a Pop-Top. There a 3 elements to support Firmness, Density & Volume. Given most Pop-Top are less than 5cm thick one of the three elements (volume) is greatly reduced hence why a firm, high density foam is a good choice. Don’t be put off with the notion of firmness. It support that matters. Our customers have told us that without a doubt this is the best foam they have ever used in a Pop Top. Highly Recommended
Posted on 25/11/202125/11/2021 by Mark Harris Top Tip: The border depth on your cover is NOT the finished thickness. A well fitted cushion is always thicker than the border width of the cover. When ordering we need the border depth of the cover NOT the finished thickness of the centre of the cushion. Foam & Covers: In this listing you are giving us the size of the cover “front to back” “side to side” and the “boarder depth” Its best practice to add Dacron & Stockinette if ordering a foam interior. This gives the cover some extra loft and tightens up the fabric but will not effect the size of the cover at the edges but will give a fuller appearance towards the centre of the cover. If no Dacron or stockinet is ordered we will reduce the boarder depth of the cushion to ensure a tight fit Feather/ Fibre & Covers : This type of filling gives a fully domed appearance When ordering make sure you measure your existing cover not an old interior. We will make your feather or fibre interiors with a matching boarder width. Take note that a feather or fibre cushion with a 10cm border will be 15cm plus at the centre Confused ? Contact us we prefer to talk it through on the phone
Posted on 17/11/202117/11/2021 by Mark Harris Cop26 I guess Cop 26 was either a success or a failure. Depending on your point of view. Just because the “Great and the Good” can’t get their act together, doesn’t mean we ordinary folk should do nothing. Here at foam4u and our sister site www.thefoamshop.co.uk we do our bit to reduce waste. As we are one of the UK’s largest suppliers of Foam Cut to Size. we end up with lots of offcuts. Traditionally this off-cuts would be bailed up and sent back on a lorry to the manufacture to be turned in to Chip Foam. This process takes a huge amount of energy to transport the off cuts, render it down in to small shredded pieces. The foam is compressed and is steamed at very high temperatures to re-bond the shredded foam in to usable sheets. We don’t do any of this . Our smaller offcuts are shredded down and sold as Cushion filler. Larger pieces are bonded back together with a water based adhesive and turned in to Budget mattress’s (Doubles & King-size £75) We are part of a National Mattress Recycling Initiative, we take in part worn or damaged mattresses. Strip them down and harvest the usable foam. Turning this waste product in to Outdoor Seating, Ped beds. and an eco alternative to our Standard Foam Cut to Size and numerous other products. Lets try our bit to save the planet, One cushion or mattress at a time. Contact us for Help and advise
